Relationship progression starts as ordinary friendship. The Third Major Update introduced 8-heart events where romanceable NPCs can move toward Best Friends or Dating, and dating characters can be taken on dates.
Heart Levels Explained
Version 1.0 raises the NPC heart cap to 10. That matters because older guides built around lower Early Access caps can stop before the current proposal and marriage content.
Dating Multiple Characters
The game allows multiple dating relationships. Marriage is still a one-partner choice, and Version 1.0 includes gameplay settings related to how other dating statuses are handled after engagement.
10-Heart Proposal Events

Marriage and Family
Version 1.0 adds wedding planning, marriage, post-marriage dialogue and routines, and an optional path to have a child. Players who do not want children can choose not to pursue that family-planning step.
